Ferret Waystation
Serving Austin, Texas and the Surrounding AreaWho we are:
We’re a home based, no kill ferret shelter. We began operations in October of 2005 when the former shelter director moved out of state. Shelter mom Connie is an Accountant for an Alzheimer's Assisted Living Facility and brings that compassion and care to all ferrets that come to her shelter. Connie has been married to Greg for 17 years. Greg holds a state Plumbing license and works in the Mechanical Contracting Field. He spends his evenings joining his wife and son caring for the ferrets. Their son is an honor student, plays the French horn and mellophone in his high school’s band and is very active in AFJROTC. Together this family has made the choice to dedicate a portion of their home and time together supporting the ferret needs of the community. Their activity is not limited to the daily operation and care of the ferrets that are surrendered to them. They are also very active in educating the public about ferret care and the responsibilities that come with their companionship in the home.
The family also consists of 11 personal ferrets, 5 dogs, and 2 cats. Our Mission:
Is to rescue, provide rehabilitation and health care, and to find forever homes for all unwanted or abandoned ferrets. We will assist ferret owners by providing information on the care of ferrets and by providing ferret sitting services. We will take an active role to help educate the public and promote the ferret as a companion animal.
